You'll be suprised by how much is involved in the moving process. Even with our experts on hand, getting ready for your move can take longer than you think. With this in mind, we at Groovy Moving thought it might be a good idea to give everyone who reads this site some handy advice which, if followed, can help make the whole process go a lot smoother.

Tip 1:

Preparation and planning are essential components of a successful, cost-effective move.

The best way to save money is to do the packing yourself. Groovy Moving offers packing materials and friendly, professional advice; so stop by or give us a call.


Tip 3:

Be sure to pack your belongings properly: Books and heavier objects should go into smaller boxes for easy handling. 


Tip 4:

Properly label each box according to the room it came from and will be going to.


Tip 5:

Squat, don't bend over, and use your legs to lift any heavy objects.


Tip 6:

Disassemble large furniture pieces so they'll easily fit through the door.


Tip 7:

Pack a suitcase with items required to get ready the following days. This way you do not have to search for the box with your toothbrush in the morning. It is helpful for those of us who do not complete unpacking on the day of the move.


Tip 8:

Pick a staging area for packed boxes. This can be a garage or area in a room downstairs close to an exit (if possible). A place you can have all boxes easily accessable to the movers. 


These helpful tips will cut down on the time it takes our movers to load and unload your belongings, and will help you save money on your move.


Questions you should ask every moving company. And our answers.

How long has your company been in business? We have been in business for over 8 years. We are currently Campbell's Best Movers for 7 years running. The owner has over 15 years experience and has opened this company in order to provide a wonderful service at a fair price. We are close nit company; this gives you the edge of having the very best customer service. Being a smaller company we are able to provide attention to details and able to tailor each move to fit each customer.

What do you consider extra services and how much do you charge for them? Packing Material & Shrink Wrap are an additional charge. We are up front with all cost and all optional packing. Once we receive an inventory list we check to see if their are any specialty packing items. We will quote you the cost for us to pack them & also let you know how you may pack them to save money.

Is your company licensed for state and interstate transport? Absolutely! We are licensed with the D.O.T (Department of Transportation) as well as have our Federal Motor Carrier License.

How do you determine the weight of my shipment? We use a third party vendor (a weigh station). They weigh the truck without your belongings then weigh the truck with your belongings. You receive a copy of the weight certificate on delivery. 

For a local move, how does your company charge: by the hour, number of movers or weight? We charge on an hourly basis. With the time being rounded to the quarter hour. (Every 15 minutes) We find this the fairest way to calculate the time. This way you don't have to pay for a full hour or even half hour that you do not use. You ONLY pay for the time you use in 15 minute increments.

What kind of liability coverage does your company provide? We provide the Federally Mandated $0.60/lb per item. This is the insurance that all licensed  companies should carry.

Who does the packing and loading? Only Groovy Moving Trained employees will handle your belongings. We work diligently to ensure premium service. Our well trained employee's are just one of the reasons are service is superior.

Are workers covered by workers’ compensation and public liability insurance? Of course! Our movers are our employee's. They are well cared for. We believe that when you treat your employee's right it shows in their performance.


What kind of cancellation policy do you have? We work on a first come first serve basis. We ask that our customers be as courteous as possible when rescheduling or canceling. We require 48 hours notice to cancel. - At this time there is no cancellation policy

How can I pay for the move? We offer a 5% Cash Discount, Cash, Cashiers Check or Postal Money Order - We will accept a personal check ONLY on pickup on Long Distance Jobs. 

How do you pack items with special requirements, such as electronics, glass-fronted furniture, antiques and musical instruments? This is why we get an inventory list. Once we receive the list we can let you know how much we would charge to package the items or we can inform you of ways to package them yourself(always the least expensive way). We can package any item for you. We only use packing materials at the customers approval. You are able to waive responsibility on any item you do not want us to package. With glass fronted furniture you would need to pay for crating. We will wrap the item with a furniture pad, bubble wrap, and fold cardboard to fit. This is a soft crate. It is literally hundreds of dollars less expensive  than wooden crates while still supplying the additional support required.  

What kind of inventory system do you use? We use a color coded & serial numeric system. Each move has it's own color and each item has its own numbering all items are listed in an inventory sheet. A copy will be provided to you at the time of pick up.


If I do the packing myself, are there restrictions on the types of boxes or utility totes I can use? Will this save me money? Crushed boxes packed by owner will not be covered during moves. I suggest that you use quality boxes when transporting your belongs across state.

What supplies do you provide? What’s included? What items do I pay for? We have no hidden charges and do our best to ensure that we are upfront with any possible costs prior to the day of your move. All taxes, tariffs, and tolls are included in this price. It includes the loading & unloading of your belongings, as well as wrapping in heavy duty furniture pads for extra protection. We disassemble & reassemble your furniture i.e. Beds, Desks, Hutches, etc. Packing materials are an extra charge are are only brought to the site upon request of the customer.
